On Monday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Today,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) dodged on whether it was a mistake to send COVID-positive patients back into nursing homes.

Co-host Willie Geist asked, “So, with 33,000, nearly, people dead in the state of New York, what have you learned, as you write about in the book, about the early stages that you can apply to later? For example, was it a mistake to send those COVID-positive patients back into nursing homes?”

After Cuomo criticized the federal government’s response, Geist cut in to ask, “Governor, did you make any mistakes in this process? You’re talking about the federal government. What about you?”

Cuomo stated, “Yes. That was the first point, was the federal government missed it coming here. Second, we were the first state to do a mask mandate, Willie, I should have done it earlier. The experts were saying the masks didn’t work. Common sense said the masks would work, and I should have done that earlier. Testing, we got up testing as fast as we could. In retrospect, we should have understood that some virus like this would come back after MERS and SARS and had more sophistication for testing, that it took this nation seven months to come up with a real testing regimen, and we’re still not doing it, that was a mistake.”

During Wednesday’s vice presidential debate, Vice President Mike Pence stated 2020 Democratic presidential nominee former Vice President Joe Biden “has been a cheerleader for Communist China” and “never fought” the trade war with China.

After 2020 Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) said that President Donald Trump “lost” the trade war with China, Pence said, “Lost the trade war with China? Joe Biden never fought it. Joe Biden has been a cheerleader for Communist China through — over the last several decades. And again, Sen. Harris, you’re entitled to your opinion. You’re not entitled to your own facts. When Joe Biden was vice president, we lost 200,000 manufacturing jobs, and President Obama said they were never coming back. He said we needed a magic wand to bring them back. In our first three years, after we cut taxes, rolled back regulation, unleashed American energy, this administration saw 500,000 manufacturing jobs created. And that’s exactly the kind of growth we’re going to continue to see as we bring our nation through this pandemic. The Green New Deal, your massive new mandates, your Paris Climate Accord, it’s going to kill jobs this time, just like it killed jobs the last time.”

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said that he would “love to” make D.C. and Puerto Rico states and addressed the prospect of ending the filibuster if Democrats take the Senate by stating, “I’m not busting my chops to become majority leader to do very little or nothing. We are going to get a whole lot done. And as I’ve said, everything, everything is on the table.”

Schumer said that Senate Democrats are “using all the tactics we can” to slow down Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation.

Host Joy Reid then asked, “Would that include adding, if the Senate becomes a Democratic majority, adding D.C. and Puerto Rico as states and ending the filibuster?”

Schumer responded, “I would — believe me, on D.C. and Puerto Rico, particularly if Puerto Rico votes for it, D.C. already has voted for it and wants it. I’d love to make them states. And as for the filibuster, I’m not busting my chops to become majority leader to do very little or nothing. We are going to get a whole lot done. And as I’ve said, everything, everything is on the table.”
