President Trump weighed-in on the 2020 general election Tuesday night; labeling his main primary opponents “the three stooges” and saying he “should be able to take them” in the months ahead.

“Can you believe it? I’m at 94% approval in the Republican Party, and have Three Stooges running against me. One is ‘Mr. Appalachian Trail’ who was actually in Argentina for bad reasons… Another is a one-time BAD Congressman from Illinois who lost in his second term by a landslide, then failed in radio. The third is a man who couldn’t stand up straight while receiving an award. I should be able to take them!” posted Trump on Twitter.

A new national poll conducted in recent days show the Democratic primary quickly becoming a three-way race, with Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren within a single point of each other.

“Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and former Vice President Joe Biden are currently bunched together in the national Democratic presidential preference contest. Movement in the latest Monmouth University Poll – positive for Warren and Sanders, negative for Biden – suggests the 2020 presidential nomination process may be entering a volatile stage. The poll results also suggest that liberal voters are starting to take a closer look at a wider range of candidates, while moderates are focusing on those with the highest name recognition,” writes the survey from Monmouth University.

“The poll finds a virtual three-way tie among Sanders (20%), Warren (20%), and Biden (19%) in the presidential nomination preferences of registered Democrats and Democratic-leaning voters across the country. Compared to Monmouth’s June poll, these results represent an increase in support for both Sanders (up from 14%) and Warren (up from 15%), and a significant drop for Biden (down from 32%),” adds the report.

Biden’s poll numbers have dropped in recent weeks after a series of speaking gaffes on the campaign trail.

“I want to be clear, I’m not going nuts,” Biden said on Friday. “I’m not sure whether it was the medical school or where the hell I spoke. But it was on the campus.”

The American Ambassador to Israel issued an official response Thursday to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s decision to block Reps. Omar and Tlaib from entering the country; saying the Trump administration “supports and respects” the move.

“It is no less than economic warfare designed to delegitimize and ultimately destroy the Jewish State,” said Ambassador David Friedman.

“Israel properly has enacted laws to bar entry of BDS activists under the circumstances present here, and it has every right to protect its borders against those activists in the same manner as it would bar entrants with more conventional weapons,” he added.

“Initially, Israel had indicated that it would accept the Tlaib/Omar Delegation, and use their visit as an opportunity to engage with and educate the delegation members with regard to Israel’s vibrant and robust democracy, its religious tolerance and its ethnic diversity,” continued Friedman.

“Unfortunately, the itinerary of the Tlaib/Omar Delegation leaves no room for that opportunity. In contrast to the nearly 70 freshmen members of Congress who just recently completed, or who are currently pursuing, a balanced visit to Israel that includes meetings with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders, the Tlaib/Omar Delegation has limited its exposure to tours organized by the most strident of BDS activists,” he concluded.

The Dow Jones Industrial average bounced back in late-afternoon trading Tuesday; recovering from the worst drop in 2019 after China “manipulated” their currency to impact global markets.

“The Dow Jones Industrial Average rebounded Tuesday 300 points in late afternoon trading, one day after the major indexes posted their worst day of the year. China pegged its yuan inside the 7 mark after the Treasury labeled the country a currency manipulator,” reports financial website The Street.

“The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which finished down 767 points in the previous session, was up 302 points, or 1.18%, to 26,020. The S&P 500 rose 1.35%, and the Nasdaq climbed 1.47%,” adds the site. “The move from the People’s Bank of China was seen as an attempt to ease tensions between the world’s two biggest economies as their ongoing trade dispute threatens global-growth prospects.”

The US stock market was rattled Monday morning after China unveiled more than $60 billion on American-produced goods; announcing the new taxes after trade negotiations with the Trump administration stalled in recent days.

“After trade talks broke up later in the day, U.S. officials said they were preparing to expand those tariffs to cover another $300 billion of goods, covering most imports from China,” reports Fox News. “The back-and-forth between the two nations is wreaking havoc in global equity markets, with some investors speculating that a deal may not happen at all.”

“I say openly to President Xi & all of my many friends in China that China will be hurt very badly if you don’t make a deal because companies will be forced to leave China for other countries. Too expensive to buy in China. You had a great deal, almost completed, & you backed out!” posted the President on social media.

Former Vice President Joe Biden maintained a massive lead over his presidential rivals this week; with roughly one third of Democrats preferring Biden over 19 other candidates.

The lead is a significant development following this week’s highly-anticipated Democratic debates in Detroit.

“Standing in contrast to the first set of Democratic debates, this week’s matchups did little to immediately impact potential Democratic primary voters’ preferences for president,” states a new poll from Morning Consult.

“Thirty-two percent of Democratic primary voters said they still want to see former Vice President Joe Biden at the top of the party’s 2020 ticket, according to new Morning Consult polling conducted after the Tuesday and Wednesday debates in Detroit. That figure hasn’t shifted much since the end of the first round of debates, when 33 percent said Biden was their first choice,” adds the survey.

Following Biden is Bernie Sanders at 18%, Elizabeth Warren at 15%, and Kamala Harris at 10%.

“Candidates used Wednesday to attack front-runner Biden over his criminal justice record and the Obama administration’s deportation record, but their attempts to discredit the former vice president were largely unfruitful in terms of changing voters’ minds — at least in the short term. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii) also used the stage to criticize Harris’ record as attorney general of California,” reports Morning Consult.

The number of Americans in the workforce hit an all-time high in July; smashing expectations as the Democratic presidential primary season enters full-swing.

“The number of people employed in the United States hit a record 157,288,000 in July,” reports CNS News. “That was up 283,000 from the 157,005,000 employed in June.”

“According to the employment report, the civilian noninstitutional population in the United States was 259,225,000 in July. That included all people 16 and older who did not live in an institution (such as a prison, nursing home or long-term care hospital). Of that civilian noninstutional population, 163,351,000 were in the labor force, meaning that they either had a job or were actively seeking one during the last month. That equaled a labor force participation rate of 63.0 percent–an increase from 62.9 percent in June,” adds the website.

The report comes days after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the first time since the Great Recession of 2008.

“The Federal Reserve lowered its benchmark rate by a quarter-point Wednesday as an insurance policy not against what’s wrong with the economy now, but what could go wrong in the future. It was the first rate cut by the central bank in a decade,” reports CNBC.

“Amid President Donald Trump’s intense political pressure and persistent market expectations, the policymaking Federal Open Market Committee dropped the target range for its overnight lending rate to 2% to 2.25%, or 25 basis points from the previous level,” adds the website.

“This action supports the Committee’s view that sustained expansion of economic activity, strong labor market conditions, and inflation near the Committee’s symmetric 2 percent objective are the most likely outcomes, but uncertainties about this outlook remain,” writes the Federal Open Market Committee.

Senator Lindsey Graham bucked tradition Thursday; demanding a pivotal vote on his asylum legislation despite widespread opposition from Democratic lawmakers including Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Sen. Mazie Hirono.

“Sen. Dianne Feinstein: ‘This is unprecedented.’ Sen. Lindsey Graham: ‘No, it’s not.’ Sen. Lindsey Graham moves controversial asylum bill through panel; Democrats charge he’s broken the rules,” posted the Hill on social media.

Original Story: May 15, 2019

Sen. Lindsey Graham unveiled a new immigration proposal Wednesday that aims to end Central American asylum claims at the US-Mexico border and return unaccompanied children to their home countries.

“Graham’s bill is designed specifically to deal with loopholes he says are encouraging migrants from Central America to make the treacherous journey north and bring children with them. He pointed in particular to the 20-day limit for authorities to hold unaccompanied minors and families before having to release them into the U.S. homeland,” reports Fox News.

“This is a nightmare for smugglers,” Graham said. “This is a godsend to stop the humanitarian disaster.”

“The word is out on the street in Central America if you bring a minor child with you, your chance of being deported goes to almost zero, your hearing date is years away and we release you inside the country and that’s the goal of coming,” he said.

The new legislation would end asylum claims at the US border but would permit individuals to request asylum at US embassies and consulates across Central America.

“If we do these four things, then the incentives created by our laws will cease to exist, this humanitarian disaster will begin to repair itself and I am willing to sit down with Democrats and find a way to address the underlying problem in Central America,” said Graham. “I am willing to put other immigration ideas on the table to marry up with this but what I am not willing to do is ignore this problem any longer.”

Sen. Graham was a key supporter of President Trump’s declaration of a “national emergency” at the border just months ago.

“These policies make it more likely that terrorists, drug dealers, and criminals can come to America and have a safe haven… Democrats are for border security, except when Trump’s president. I’ve seen them in action. They won’t give a dime to this president because they want him to fail,” Graham told Sean Hannity last January.

Chair of the House Judiciary Committee Jerrold Nadler doubled-down on his party’s potential impeachment of President Trump; saying there’s “certainly” justification to remove the Commander-in-Chief from office.

“Impeachment is a political act, and you cannot impeach a president if the American people will not support it,” said Nadler, D-N.Y. “The American people, right now, do not support it because they do not know the story. They don’t know the facts.”

“We have to get the facts out. We have to hold a series of hearings, we have to hold the investigations,” he added. “It’s very important that [Special Counsel Robert Mueller], to a television audience and to the American people, state [his findings] and answer questions about it, even if there is no new information.”

Nadler’s comments come days after Robert Mueller held a press conference at the Department of Justice; refusing to testify before Nadler’s committee.

“I hope and expect this to be the only time I will speak to you on this matter,” Mueller told reporters Wednesday. “No one has told me whether I can or should testify or speak further about this matter.”

“There has been discussion about an appearance before Congress,” he continued. “Any testimony from this office would not go beyond our report. It contains our findings and analysis, and the reasons for the decisions we made. We chose those words carefully, and the work speaks for itself.”

Nadler nearly fainted at a press conference alongside New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio last Friday; prompting staff and top aides to rush to the politician’s side.

“Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee Jerry Nadler appeared weak and on the verge of passing out at a presser held by Mayor Bill de Blasio Friday morning,” reports NBC New York. “Video from the press conference at P.S. 199 shows de Blasio and others coming to Nadler’s aid offering water and asking him if he was OK.”

“During one point in the press conference, held to discuss expanding school zone cameras, you can hear de Blasio offering water to Nadler and telling him that he looked a little dehydrated,” adds the article. “When de Blasio asks Nadler if he was OK, Nadler can be heard responding with a faint ‘no’ before putting his hand over his face.”

The New York Times is now reporting that the FBI sent an “investigator posing as a research assistant” to meet with Trump campaign aides heading into the 2016 presidential election as part of a “counterintelligence inquiry.”

“The woman had set up the meeting to discuss foreign policy issues. But she was actually a government investigator posing as a research assistant, according to people familiar with the operation. The F.B.I. sent her to London as part of the counterintelligence inquiry opened that summer to better understand the Trump campaign’s links to Russia,” reports the Times.

“The American government’s affiliation with the woman, who said her name was Azra Turk, is one previously unreported detail of an operation that has become a political flash point in the face of accusations by President Trump and his allies that American law enforcement and intelligence officials spied on his campaign to undermine his electoral chances,” adds the article.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry re-emerged this week to speak with Congressional leaders on the issue of climate change; saying Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has done more “in one day” than President Trump “has in his lifetime.”

“There are a lot of different proposals on how to proceed… In proposing what she has proposed together with Sen. Markey, Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez has offered more leadership in one day or in one week than President Trump has in his lifetime on this subject,” said Kerry.

Kerry’s comments come just days after Ocasio-Cortez’ ‘Green New Deal’ failed to secure a single “Yes” vote in the US Senate, with virtually all Democrats voting “present” on the massive government program.

Sen. Lindsey Graham weighed-in Thursday on the national emergency taking place along the United States’ southern border with Mexico; confirming that 92% of family members “detained” since September “fail to appear” at their deportation hearings.

“Just met with Acting @ICEgov Director Ron Vitiello. * If March numbers hold, we are on track for 1.2 million illegal immigrants coming into the country in 2019. * Since September 2018, 92% of the 6,000 family members detained fail to appear at their deportation hearing,” posted Graham on social media.

The Senator’s comments come weeks after President Trump declared a “national emergency” at the US-Mexico border; effectively bypassing Congress to secure funding for his long-promised border wall.
