Cuomo didn’t make any friends when he decided to blame the COVID nursing home deaths upon healthcare workers, rather than his own insanely bad decisions, all of which were made possible under his “emergency powers.”
As it turns out, the State of New York faced even greater “emergencies” once Cuomo was allowed to assume the role of an effective mini-dictator. After all, this is a governor that has gleefully killed businesses and openly railed against conservatives.
Not to mention a governor that attempts to dictate how many people eat Thanksgiving in a household while ignoring how many more smash through the windows on 5th Avenue, all in the name of “protesting,” of course.
In fact, given how much Cuomo has gotten away with, it is not terribly surprising that he became an effective megalomaniac, though he is apparently finally realizing that his “emergency powers” do not transform him into a demigod.
In fact, his assault on healthcare workers for the nursing home deaths, once he bothered to even comment, does not sit well with the public or the GOP. For that matter, it does not sit well with many representatives within the State of New York, many of whom are Democrat.
For instance, Alessandra Biaggi railed against Cuomo in a tweet, openly calling him out for doctoring evidence regarding the tragic deaths in nursing homes.
“No, @NYGovCuomo, you did not tell the ‘entire’ Senate or Assembly that there was a DOJ investigation, as the reason why you didn’t share the nursing home numbers … I found out about a DOJ investigation with the rest of NY’ers in the @nypost story Thursday night.” [Source: The Washington Examiner]
Interesting commentary, in that The New York Post is suddenly being endorsed, though it was temporarily blocked by Twitter just a few months ago for daring to share the debauchery of Hunter Biden. That said, it is a welcome change to see the publication spoken about favorably now, particularly when it is used against an ultra-leftist.
Julia Salazar also echoed Biaggi’s outrage, pointing out that Cuomo openly lied to the legislature, deliberately withheld evidence, and doctored the provided evidence. You know, kind of like how Democrats approached Impeachment 2.0.
“If the Governor had actually informed the legislature months ago that his office was withholding the data they had on total nursing home deaths, there would’ve been no need for them to have a call with a group of legislators last week to inform them of this for the first time …
Governor can claim (as he’s done) that they withheld the data bc they thought it would be used against them by the DOJ(!). But claiming they informed the legislature is a lie on top of a lie. If he’d been honest in the first place, he may have had one bad news cycle. But now?” [Source: The Washington Examiner]
Exactly. “If he’d been honest in the first place.” Well, as simple as honesty may be to many Americans, it is apparently the most challenging characteristic of all for a Democrat to have.
Which is exactly why even other Democrats are calling for Cuomo’s powers to be significantly curtained, including another representative, John Liu.
“The status quo can’t remain. There needs to be a revocation of some of the governor’s emergency powers … For months and months, we’ve been asking the executive branch, the governor’s office, for this information. It was information our constituents were demanding from the state government.” [Source: The Washington Examiner]
Unfortunately for Liu, Cuomo is not in the mood for honesty, especially if his credibility is at stake.
Luckily, like most leftists, Cuomo got sloppy, and his barely buried misdeeds are now arising to the surface … let’s see what, if any, comment the Biden administration may have on this debacle.
