‘We are the ONLY nation in the world w/ more guns than people. And this is the result’
Liberals, gun control advocates, and 2020 Democratic presidential candidates wasted no time politicizing the mass murder tragedy in El Paso Saturday.
Before law enforcement confirmed the number of casualties, before families were reunited, before all of the injured were transported to hospitals, before the scene was declared safe, liberals rushed to call for new gun control measures.
Democratic presidential candidates:
The news out of El Paso is devastating. I'm heartbroken for the victims and their families. Far too many communities have suffered through tragedies like this already. We must act now to end our country's gun violence epidemic.

Everyone in America, myself included, is devastated by the news of this latest attack in El Paso. Sadly, after each of these tragedies the Senate does nothing. That has got to change.

My grandmother used to take me to Cielo Vista Mall. Now it’s one more mass shooting scene. How many more must grieve before we act? #ElPaso

“Keep that shit on the battlefields. Do not bring it into our communities” — Beto on military styled weapons, which he says it looks like were used in El Paso

My heart is with the people of El Paso today as they cope with a devastating mass shooting—the scope of which we are still learning.
This attack is a tragic reminder of our government’s failure to do its most basic duty: to protect American lives. We need gun reform now. https://t.co/z0JTng4kVa

Enough. We need to end this national nightmare. Praying for everyone affected by this unspeakable tragedy, and for our country to find the moral courage to take action to end this carnage. https://t.co/vqTMSlbR8j

Absolutely heartbroken to hear the news out of El Paso.
We cannot allow this to keep happening in America. Citizens don’t need guns to protect them from government—they need the government to step up and protect them from guns.
— Seth Moulton (@sethmoulton) August 3, 2019
Truly heartbreaking news out of El Paso today. We must come together and summon the courage to say: no more. We cannot allow this to remain our new normal. Support @MomsDemand as they work to combat the scourge of gun violence in our country. https://t.co/IeRvdcoBui

“Someone else will take care of it” generally doesn’t work as a problem-solving approach.
— Andrew Yang (@AndrewYang) August 3, 2019
Today’s tragedy in El Paso is heartbreaking for every American. Our prayers go out to the residents of El Paso and all those who have been affected by this horrific act of cowardice. As we all recognize, our thoughts and prayers are insufficient, we must demand action. (1/2)

My God. I am just now learning about the mass shooting in El Paso. Reports state that at least 18 people have been murdered – maybe more.
And that a white man in his 20s is (again) in custody.
We are the ONLY nation in the world w/ more guns than people. And this is the result.

I survived war in Beirut.
I witnessed some of the most intense urban combat of the 20th century.
Yet there is something even more disturbing about the randomness and pervasiveness of #gunviolence in America.
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY.#ElPaso

A 21-year-old murdered at least 20 people at an El Paso Walmart yet no amount of social media outrage will change anything unless we hold gun manufacturers financially responsible, bankrupt these evil corporations, and toss out the government officials who don’t even give a damn.

Those who say now is not the right time for a convo on gun reform are correct.
20 YEARS AGO was the right time for it.
We're 20 years and hundreds of thousands of lives late. We need to be talking about this now, and our lawmakers need to do something.#ElPaso

El Paso, a border city, one of the SAFEST IN THE NATION, until what from all reports appears to be a white guy with an assault rifle comes for mass killing.
Tell me again who is dangerous?
